    Laura Campbell performed both solo and ensemble music of composer Mark Volker on a program called "Cold Fusion" at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts on Nov. 7. She performed as a member of the group Music's Recreation on a world premiere of "Poetic Rejuvenations" by composer Christopher Morgan Loy in Ithaca on Nov. 23. On Sunday, Dec. 7, she performed at the Johnson Art Museum at Cornell as part of a holiday music celebration for the community. In addition to these, she performed as a member of the Southern Fingerlakes Orchestra in Corning, New York in October and as principal flutist in the Colgate Orchestra on concerts in October and November.

    Beatrice Farnsworth chaired a panel entitled, "Gendering Historiography: Women's History in Russia and Poland," at the national meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, held in Philadelphia, Nov. 20-23, 2008.

    Jeanne Goddard produced "Balancing Acts," the annual Wells College Dance Concert, on October 31-November 1, 2008, in collaboration with guest choreographer Elizabeth Wilmot Bishop, design faculty member Roberta Kolpakas, Technical Director Joe DeForest, and students of the Wells College Dance Ensemble. For this year’s concert Ms. Goddard created "Assignations," a new work for eight dancers with an original score by Steven Stull and live sound created backstage. Also in October, the Goddard / Stull / CRS Barn Studio dance and music production, "Opera Cowpokes Alive!" was broadcast on WSKG Public Television (Binghamton). In November, Ms. Goddard co-hosted a master class with Nana Anim of the Wassa Pan Afrika Dance Ensemble, in cooperation with the Office of Campus Involvement.

    William Roberts: Two photos of Professor Robert’s were published in the October 31st, edition( Vol.XV ,#10) of Steeplechase Times. The photos are part of two page article, " Slater's Day". One of his photos, "Saratoga Sunrise" appears in the 2009 Horsephotos calender.

    André Siamundele presented a paper "The Identity Passage: Frantz Fanon, Aimé Césaire and Ousmane Sembene" at the International conference on Teaching and Propagating African History and Culture to The Diaspora and Teaching and Diaspora History and Culture to Africa, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (November 11-13, 2008).

    Crawford Thoburn: The Wells Concert Choir, conducted by Crawford R. Thoburn, traveled to Auburn on Saturday, November 22nd to help inaugurate the Holiday Season at the Fingerlakes Mall. They sang for the tree-lighting ceremony at the Bass Pro Shop, and then presented a half-hour concert from the balcony in the central food court.

    On December 7th, the Concert Choir and its constituent women's and men's ensembles gave their annual Holiday Concert at 7:30 P.M. in Barler Recital Hall. A wide range of seasonal and general choral works were presented for an enthusiastic audience which contributed items of canned and packaged food for a local food pantry as the price of admission to the concert.
