Our Mission:
The Office of Campus Involvement focuses
on the physical, emotional and social wellness of our student body through
inclusiveness, leadership, traditions, sustainability and service oriented
programming. An inclusive range of activities is provided for a diverse
student population while supporting the Mission of the College. This office
endeavors to support student initiatives as they enrich their lives on
campus and within the community while preparing for a life of exploration
and life-long learning.
Our Programming Philosophy:
Leadership: Assist students
in developing leadership skills.
Collaboration: Teach students
to recognize community interdependence.
Global Exposure: Utilize programming
to cultivate positive relationships.
Information:
Wells
students govern much of their own collegiate life, and they organize many
social activities with administrative support from the Office of Campus
Involvement. Thus the social life on campus is as varied as the composition
of the student body. The crowded calendar (https://global.wells.edu/ics/)
includes events ranging from dances, musicians, and comedians to kayaking
and canoeing, semiformal events, and long standing traditions. Additional
social interaction takes place among Wells College students with nearby
colleges and universities and at other local areas of interest. The choices
are many and diverse -- the decision of when and how frequently to participate
is entirely up to you!
There
are over 40 different clubs and organizations in existence on campus. There
are categories of groups to suite just about every area of interest, including
but not limited to: Educational, Social, Activism, Performance and General
Interest. For a complete list of current clubs and organizations click
here or check out the Globe (https://global.wells.edu/ics/Students/Campus_Involvement.jnz).
Traditions have also been an important part of Wells College since the
turn of the century and still play an integral role in campus life today.
These traditions were established to promote a sense of community. See
the listing of Wells traditions for more information.
Religious Life:
The College Chaplain
plans and leads religious activities on campus. He is available to students,
faculty, and staff for pastoral counseling. He is also the advisor for
the Community Service and Activism Board through which he coordinates the
college's community service activities. Campus Ministry makes every effort
to extend opportunities for students to be involved in worship, fellowship,
retreats and similar events with local faith communities. Rev. French
invites you to come by and say hello. He looks forward to serving
the needs of students of all faiths. Office hours: Tuesday 10AM - 12PM
and Wednesday 1PM - 3PM.
Transportation:
The Wells College
Transportation Office provides a variety of services for the Wells Community.
College vans make runs to local areas on a daily schedule and shuttles
may be arranged for airport transportation and other events. All information
regarding shuttles, fares and reservations can be found at https://global.wells.edu/ics/Students/Transportation.jnz.
The mission of the Wells College Transportation Department is to help facilitate
the academic institutional goals of the college by providing services that
allow students to have experiential learning opportunities. The Transportation
Department provides a service that enables community members to connect
to the surrounding areas in support of the Mission of the College while
continuing to cultivate a socially responsible community.
